Interactive workshop covering nuances involved for interpreters working with Domestic violence and Sexual Assault. The first part of the workshop will focus upon an understanding of past and current paradigms involving domestic/sexual assault, confidentiality boundaries, collaborative work with teams including law enforcement/judicial system, and call for CDI. Second half will focus on case studies and discussions involving vicarious trauma and its implications on interpreters. This workshop also includes strategies on explaining different case studies in preparation to ensure success in future assignments. Participants will be provided with interpreting scenarios to familiarize themselves with the structure and process of collaborative interpreting. At the end of workshop, participants will be able to identify best approach to utilize in various mental health and/or domestic violence scenarios. Presented in ASL: 9AM – 1PM, .4 PS CEUs for $55.
