CDIs: The When’s, Why’s, and How’s
Presented by Bradley Christlieb
The interpreting field has seen a significant rise in the need for Deaf/hearing interpreting teams to provide full access to communication. Advocating for a Deaf/hearing team can be challenging when requestors are unfamiliar with the benefits. This workshop introduces strategies on explaining the benefits of Deaf/hearing team, as well as strategies on pre-conferencing and preparation to ensure assignment success. Participants will be provided with interpreting scenarios to familiarize themselves with the structure and process of relay interpreting. At the end of workshop, participants will be able to identify situations in which a DI/CDI would be beneficial, to pre-conference effectively between the DI/CDI and HI, to describe strategies for the hearing interpreter to relay information to the working DI/CDI, and to evaluate the effectiveness of the team throughout the job. Presented in ASL: 9AM – 1PM, .4 PS CEUs for $55. Please fill out the form below to receive email confirmation you have been registered, space is limited – don’t miss this opportunity!
