Karl KosiorekKarl Kosiorek, CI/CT
President and Owner

DAS is owned and operated by Mr. Karl Kosiorek, a nationally certified sign language interpreter with over 25 years of experience in the field who has extensive experience in both community interpreting and VRS. In his almost 20 years of management , Mr. Kosiorek has directly managed two of the largest sign language interpreting agencies in the nation and has also previously served as Senior Vice President of a leading national VRS company. Karl completed an ITP at CCBC in Baltimore, MD; holds a BS degree in Communication Studies from Towson University; and has obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Management from John Hopkins University. He also holds both CI and CT certifications from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID). Mr. Kosiorek maintains the right balance of respecting the intricate needs of Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing consumers and those who serve them while being able to effectively manage a business at the same time.

PJ Carberg, CI/CT
Director of Business Development and Client Relations

PJ Carberg is a nationally certified sign language interpreter who has nearly 20 years of experience in the field of sign language interpretation. Ms. Carberg has extensive management experience having been involved in management at several interpreting companies for over 15 years. During her career, PJ has had experience as a staff interpreter, an independent contractor, a consultant, a supervisor, a trainer, and a number of other prominent roles, with a concentration in the areas of interpreter recruitment and business marketing.  PJ currently oversees DAS’ Business Development and Client Relations, fostering business relationships and maintaining a strong connection with clients who depend on us most for quality interpretation and CART services.  DAS is fortunate to have someone of PJ’s caliber in this role.

Director of Resources

Kelli Grant graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor’s Degree in both Rhetoric & Communications and African- American Studies. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Ms. Grant also graduated from the Community College of Philadelphia with an Associate’s Degree in Interpreting in 1997 and has been interpreting professionally ever since. Kelli is a seasoned interpreter with a long history of exceptional professionalism and leadership in the field. Kelli will take primary responsibility for supporting staff interpreters, freelancers and captionists in the quality work they do every day. She will also take the lead on managing, hiring, and recruiting all resources, while also ensuring DAS is on the cutting edge in benefits and compensation.


Jill OwensJill Owens Brick, CDI
Director of Consumer Relations and Quality Assurance

Jill Owens is a distinguished RID Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) with more than 10 years of experience in serving Deaf, hard-of-hearing and Deaf Blind communities nationally and internationally. Ms. Owens is an alumna of Gallaudet University, holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies. As the Director of Consumer Relations and Quality Assurance, Jill is responsible for promoting and maintaining strong relationships between consumers of our service and the company. She is also responsible for Quality Assurance, ensuring the highest standards in communication access by effectively matching interpreter skill sets to consumer needs. Jill was the former Miss Deaf Georgia, served as the US Olympics awards ceremony coordinator, and a former NAD delegate.


Grace Rupani

Grace Rupani, NIC
Director of Professional Development

Grace Rupani graduated with a degree in ASL/English Interpretation from Bethel College in Indiana, where her career took off.  After being a freelance interpreter for some time, Mrs. Rupani became the Program Coordinator for a non-profit interpreting agency in Michigan, providing mentorship, training and educational outreach for interpreters as well as coordinating interpreting services. Grace relocated to the DC area in 2007 and quickly moved into a management role as a supervisor of interpreters. Since joining DAS in 2010, Grace has used her graphic design expertise to enhance the overall public image of DAS. As Director of Professional Development, Mrs. Rupani coordinates professional development opportunities to serve the interpreting community for the DC area while also maintaining all public-facing areas (website, social media).
